Weekly Recap | 16-21 Feb. 2015

Welcome to Beautiful Bookish Butterflies Weekly Recap. Once a week, Stacie and Amanda take the time to talk about the weeks goings on, both on the blog and in our lives elsewhere, any new books we may have received and want to mention and what's interested is within the blogging community. Stacie and Amanda link up this recap with Caffeinated Book Reviewers Sunday Post and occasionally Tynga Reviews' Stacking the Shelves.

Our Lives This Week:

Stacie:

This week has been half term, so not only have I been busy seeing family and trying to keep Caitlyn entertained, but she's been somewhat challenging over the past week, resulting in a very tired me. I haven't had much chance to read this week as I was out every day and I had virtually no time to write reviews or posts as any time I was in she wouldn't let me get 5 minutes to myself, so come tomorrow when she goes back to school and Glenn is in work I have 6 hours to myself where I plan on doing nothing but writing things for the blog. Other than Caitlyn being a little bit naughty I've really enjoyed the time spent with family. I went to my mums on Saturday, Glenn's parents on Monday for his sisters birthday, his Nan and Granddads on Wednesday and his other Nan on Thursday, because we find it difficult to see people during the weekday with her school and there is only so much we can do at the weekend, weeks like this are always nice.

This week I've got a few books, mostly for the Kindle, some paperback, but all of them I'm super duper excited about (also..they were cheap, The Return is a review copy so I don't feel too bad about them) as far as reading goes this week I read Zom-B Gladiator and Zom-B Mission, I'm really loving where this series is heading at the moment and I can't wait to continue it. I also read The Assassin's Blade and no, I am not ready to talk about it yet. Sarah J. Maas is just on another level to everyone else at the moment, her writing is jut out of this world.

Amanda:

It's been an eye opener of a week for me personally. because I had a personal life meltdown. I mentioned on Twitter and in our last recap that I was doing an experiment (which has now been named as the De-Book Your Life Experiment) and it was.. pretty horrifying in the end, fair to say it really knocked me for six and affected me for a while afterwards. Yeah, just thinking of it.. fair to say I will never be doing anything like that again, but it should make for an interesting post. I'm just glad to be back.

Just some of what's been happening on Instagram.

Book wise, things were better. I attempted the #5books7days challenge and low and behold, I just about managed it, short though some books may have been, those 5 books brought me the first books to not only get the full 5 stars out of me, but to become official favourites too - The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and Never Never by Colleen Hoover. You'll be hearing more about those soon.. I also finally got a copy of Far From You, courtesy of Daphne at Winged Reviews, so huge thank you to her, I cannot wait to see if the buzz is deserved. Overall, a mixed bag this week..

What We Liked This Week:

- Sandra talked about reading and socialising in public
- Nereyda asked: how do you pick your next read?
- Iris talked about inspiration and late night blogging
- Cait shared her bookish turn-ons (and flailed, like always!)
- Benish talks about her struggle to find great books
- Bec sarcastically listed ways to start a blog
- Jeann asked: does age impact your reading?
- Mitchii talked about stereotypes in blogging
- Steph talked about leaving series unfinished
- Cait talked villains and wanting backstories
- Naban wondered: am I doing things right?

  1. Aw, family time can be nice Stacie, even if you were a bit tired out by the end. :) Ooh, I wanted to read Trouble. Hopefully you get some good blogging done tomorrow.

I'm curious about this De-Book Your Life Experiment, I'll have to check out the last recap and your Twitter. Great job at doing the #5books7days challenge. I would have done that if I knew about it. Or at least tried. Ha. Is that Far From You by Tess Sharpe, if so, I've been wanting to read that too.

My week's been okay. I haven't read or blogged a whole lot. I've had a sick kitten so I was freaking out about her until Wednesday when I was able to take her to the vet and then I really didn't stop worrying until yesterday when she was quite a bit better.

    1. Thank you Amber, it was a nice week just a little bit busy.

I'm really looking forward to Trouble too, it's one I've considered for a while but after recently reading How To Love, a book about teenage pregnancy as well, I really wanted to read some more like it and remembered that book haha :)

    2. The De-Book Your Life was difficult, took everything book related out of my life for 24 hours, hated every minute of it, but I learnt a lot. It is Far From You by Tessa Sharpe, I'm looking forward to it! :)

  2. I got Remain Calm and Feed and will check out Half Wild. That's a new one for me.
It's nice to spend time with family but also nice when you get time for yourself again. Relaxing and doing something you've been wanting to do is cathartic.

  3. Ooh family time huh? I hope you had fun! We all need a good dose!

And gah, Amanda! This experiment! Seeing as I was MIA, this is the first I'm hearing of this (super intrigued, I saw you mention it in a comment just before as well!) I'll be waiting for this post! The personal life meltdown--sending positive vibes. I had one last week as well and it's put a whole different perspective on life for me, tbh.

    1. It wasn't definitely a scary thing to do, I won't be doing it again, but the results where interesting at least, I'm hoping to share them soon! Life meltdowns suck, hopefully I'll get out of this slump soon :)
