Our Lives This Week:

Stacie:

This week has been some what of a boring one for me, my OH had his first week at his new job so I was alone from 9-3 everyday which resulted in lot of blogging and reading so not so bad I guess, I just haven't really done anything else haha. (I'm really a boring person at heart). It's getting super cold at the moment and it was snowing on Saturday, so me and my little girl were walking in it a bit before we went to my mums which was nice, but I'm pretty sure my ears have frost bite haha.  Nothing much else has really happened this week unfortunately, I've been trying to sort something out for my daughters 5th birthday in March but it's a case of looking around so that will keep me busy next week. But yeah, that's my week, boring as ever. Really have to get myself a part time job because there isn't any reason to stay at home.

Favourite Books of January

I've been very cheeky and nicked the idea of showing my favourite books this month off Amanda, sorry hun haha. This month I've only read 13 books which is not bad but sadly, not great. (However I am on track with my Goodreads challenge so thats all that matters) I've read some good ones and some average ones but those 3 were the only 5 star ones. As far as books go this week I've not really read anything outstanding so far. I read Article 5, and I wasn't really impressed with that as it felt more like a sequel and same could be said about Soulprint. Though I liked the book, yet again it didn't feel like a first book let alone a standalone. Then I read All Fall Down which I actually really enjoyed and How To Love which I was pretty much hooked from start to finish. I haven't had one reading slump this month, it's been smooth sailing so here’s hoping it continues because I'm really liking the rhythm I'm in.

Amanda:

Guys. No, seriously guys, this has been one weirrrrrrd week, and that's in comparison to last week. First off, lets get the unpleasantry thing out of the way. I found out one of my friends might die. Yeah, no seriously, they've got to have - well, might have to have surgery and could die with or without it. Cheerful news, right? *thumbs up sarcastically* However, in more contrasting news, I've finished my placement, which was pretty, placid and tame in comparison to how it was going to be. I'd expected to learn a lot more things than I have, and expected to actually gain some administration experience, where-as I actually just learnt how to sign myself on to claim job seekers. Fun times.. In even more exciting and flail worthy news, it turns out, I'm in the paperback of Cress by Marissa Meyer! Okay, Book Badger is in the back of Cress, which just gives me nostalgic feelings about my old blog and the amazing things I did on there and the experiences I gained, and yeah, it sucks a little that Book Badger is no more, but I know I was Book Badger, and the important people that need to know know, and by the time Thursday had come around, I was sure that would be the highlight of my week, but oh know, sticking with the Lunar Chronicles theme, Steph from Chasm of Books, (whose blog I seriously love) offered to buy me Fairest which was just - my feelings are like an explosion of amazing, fangirl and wanting to cry of joy. Seriously, I could not be more thankful and appreciate it more, and I cannot what to experience even more sci-fi love. Huge thanks to Steph once again, you're utterly fabulous!

Best Reads of January

Coming down from that fabulous high of Lunar Chronicle-ness, my reading has been, varied this week. I read Sweet Venom which was just so not the book to read after reading Last Leaves Falling, especially considering my expectations - definitely not good. I later moved onto Monument 14, which surprised me really, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did, but I doubt I'll continue the series, I'm worried about it. Then I FINALLY finished Dream Thieves (what is it about this series that involves taking week long breaks in between reading two halves of the books?) which smashed me into my 4.5 star ratings, which is a positively wonderful thing, and then I read Curious Cat Spy Club which was cute, but not all that fabulous. All in all, a weird week for both my emotions and my books.

What We Liked This Week:

- Amber created an epic guide to parallel universes
- Jess talked about buying links and asked if we really need them
- Asti hates it when she dislikes a book
- Nitzan asked: author bios: yay or nay?
- Nitzan showed off covers for Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
- Jeann talked about stereotypes and labels when reading
- Cait asked: what's the point in negative reviews?
- Eugenia talked about imagination, reading and characters
- Amanda talked the dnf: the steps behind it

  1. I am in LOVE with all the Lunar Chronicles love. I read Fairest in one sitting. best decision of that day. [that day because the day after I got booster juice instead of starbucks and that was also a good decision] Anyway, I think both of you had great weeks, even though Stacie thinks hers was boring. Like guys, I do monthly posts because my LIFE is boring OH MY GOSH

I loved how to Love but I don't remember too much because I read it two years ago. Plus, I must read all the things by SJM but I haven't yet because all the books. It makes me feel sort of sad :P

Always a pleasure to reading your blog ladies <3

  4. I was reading your post, but I really love your theme. I was trying to figure out the widths and all but couldn't.
Sorry about your friend and I hope the surgery goes well. With a surgical option there's hope at the least and the success of the surgery could be outstanding. That's what you can hang on to. Best wishes.

    1. I can't remember the widths myself either, but the side column is 340 if that helps Steph? It's an edited blogger theme, so it's all done by me, which was hard, but worth it, so thank you! :)
