Weekly Recap | 4-10 Jan. 2015

Welcome to Beautiful Bookish Butterflies Weekly Recap. Once a week, Stacie and Amanda take the time to talk about the weeks goings on, both on the blog and in our lives elsewhere, any new books we may have received and want to mention and what's interested is within the blogging community. Stacie and Amanda link up this recap with Caffeinated Book Reviewers Sunday Post and occasionally Tynga Reviews's Stacking the Shelves.

Opening Week!

Well, what a week it's been! We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has visited us, joined us, followed us and made our first week as amazing as it has been; without you, we wouldn't be here to be blogging and it's your continued support and encouragement that has brought us together and kept us blogging, we couldn't wish for more.

Also, don't forget that we both have international giveaways on our introduction posts, so do check them out.

Our Lives This Week:

Stacie:

This first week of Beautiful Bookish Butterflies has been wonderful, but also really scary. Although I know everything has gone smoothly, I sadly wasn't really around to see it properly, having to leave Amanda to hold down the fort quicker than we anticipated. The first day of 2015 I cracked my screen on my Kindle, which had me very close to tears and cursing the New Year. On Monday, my laptop decided to stop working. It had been on the brink of breaking and my OH who is a computer wizz has saved it so many times, no amount of trying brought it back to life this time, so I am hoping to get a spare from my mums and have my OH take a look at that, repair it, and give me something to use because sadly, my laptop was what we used and it's just near impossible to write posts on a tablet. To top of things I've got sciatica again. A few years ago I had it pretty bad, and spent nearly every day for around 3 weeks laying horizontal on the floor because my back was only in peace when I was straight, so even if my computer was working I can't sit still long enough to do much.

But the show must go on! Until Glenn is able to fix the replacement laptop, I'll be taking myself to the library that’s about 15 minutes from mine, or spending and hour or two using my mother/dads computer when I visit so that I can at least type up some reviews and posts (I'm writing them all down on paper at the moment), so at least that way, if I can't be there everyday, my post's will still go ahead. So yeah.. I really haven't had the best start to 2015, but Amanda's been really supportive and I'm just sorry that I haven't been able to see this first importing week with her. However on lighter note, I seem to be sticking to my plans on scheduling - I'm like a new woman :P

Amanda:

It's been a busy busy week this week. Not only did we officially open BBB, but I started my work placement on Monday too which has been.. interesting and definitely challenging. I'm working in a job centre in order to gain some admin experience to help with my job hunt, go figure, and so far, it's pretty good. I've been doing some of your normal office duties, photocopying and data input and it's just been rather nice to have something to wake up for in the morning, rather than wondering what to do with my day. As far as I'm aware, I'm going to be on this placement until at least February, so it looks as though my finding a balance between work, rest and play is going to be tested sooner than imagined.

Just some of what's been happening lately on Instagram

Other than that, I've mainly been enjoying what's been a really exciting opening week and slowly making my way through The Raven Boys in between other reads. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions in every way possible - to see the support and love that I have this week, to see how many are loving the new blog and are excited about the future, it's just a wonderful feeling, completely and utterly wonderful. Thank you so much to people who have followed me from Book Badger and I really hope you love what's to come, including lots of positive reviews since 2014 ended so well, and a huge Winter Book Haul, because I was insanely spoilt, and bought many books.. whoops?

  1. I love your new blog guys, it's absolutely gorgeous! Congrats on your work placement Amanda, I know you've been struggling with it for a while and I'm proud you have a purpose to keep you busy! I know you aren't having the best time with Raven Boys, but I hope you'll end up enjoying it (I know there's so much hype!)

Stacie, it sounds like you've had a hell of a time with technology but hopefully it all pans out soon! It's not ideal when you have to go to the library for it :(

  2. Congrats on your first week of BBB. It's been fabulous, you two! I'm so excited for the things to come.

Stacie, while a bunch of rather unfortunate things have happened this week, I'm glad your feeling better right now. I hope the pain lessons and you get some rest!

Aaah, the whole balance problem. Good luck with that Amanda! I'm STILL working out the whole balance thing and it's been three months for me. But you're right. It's so much more comforting to wake up and have plans for the day. I hope the placement helps out with finding a permanent position!

Have a good week you two! <3 x

    1. Thank you Jess, it's been wonderful!<3 It's most likely that this placement won't result in a permanent position, but the experience should be really handy, and it's pretty good too.

  5. Stacie, the screen on my Kindle is cracked too, but it's still working, the material they're using is really something. And that means I don't get yet to replace it with a newer tool lol. Have a great week, girls, I'm glad this first week was successfull ;)

  7. Love your new blog! It's so pretty! So sorry about the technical problems. It drives me crazy when electronics don't just do what they're supposed to do. Great collection of links. They should keep me busy for awhile. Have a great week!

  10. Congrats on your first week! It's nice that you have each other, especially now that Amanda has less time on her hands and Stacie's laptop has decided to be a meanie and die on her! I hope your OH can fix the spare one for you.
