Bookish Musings - Amanda's Winter Book Haul/Goodies

Bookish Musing is a feature here at Beautiful Bookish Butterflies that allows one of us to share our thoughts and opinions, talk or discuss things happening in the book and blogging community or share a personal book related conversation. Today, Amanda will be showing off all her new bookish and film related goodies that she received over her Birthday/Christmas and New Year, because New Year is her own personal Christmas, and why she's so insanely giddy over two presents in particular.. Take a seat, it's a long one people.

There's only one good thing about having your Birthday and Christmas so insanely close together, other than all the chocolate and the food and the lazing around and the- okay, there's quite a few, but there's one main good thing that being born 11 days before Christmas provides you with and that's an influx of presents all in a short space of time, even if that does mean I have to wait an entire year for more. However, I know you're all dying to know what my precious goodies are, so without further ado, let me present (get it? present? oh god..) to you my MAUSIVE HAUL OF GOODIES.

Gifted Books (Birthday/Christmas)

Stacie - My True Love Gave To Me, Angelfall & Pawn

I wasn't kidding when I said that I get ALL THE BOOKS at the end of the year, oh joys of Winter Birthdays.. but I would like to say a huge thank you to Stacie and Charnell, who seriously spoilt me, to my best friend Beth and her family, who will never read this ever, but hey, manners right? and my utterly amazing Mum and my Step-Dad Brian for showering me with books, and then saying I own too many, logic please?

I was originally going to take pictures, but series, effort much? I got an Acer Aspire LT and Galaxy SIII.
I really don't have anything more to say about these newest editions other than I'M IN HEAVEN, GAH!

Purchased by Yours Truly

Physical Copies: The Forever Song | Prep School Confidential | Young, Gifted and Dead | Heir of Fire
Trouble | Second Chance Summer | The Pledge | Twenty Boy Summer | The Art of Wishing
World After | This Song Will Save Your Life | Choker | Burn Bright | Golden

Digital Copies: Manifesto On How To Be Interesting | Armageddon | Cipher | Since You've Been Gone

See, this is the exact reason why I should never be trusted with money, I only spend it on books. In my defence, buying all of these cost me just over £40, that's 19 books at an average of £2.11 each, and when you consider that 6 of them are Hardcovers, I think I did pretty darn well.. That and most of these books I either have plans for in April or June/July, have been wanting for months, or have been recommend to me, snuck onto my radar or were impulse 'I need the sequel!' buys - I'm looking at you World After. I don't have plans to buy many other books throughout 2015, so this is okay, right?

Later Books Acquired

Never Never | Killer Instinct | Everbound | Apple and Rain (Won)
I may have bought some books with gift cards.. oops?

What books did you receive over the Christmas period? Did you buy yourself any books? What books here should I be focusing my attention on most, and what books are you most excited for this year?

  1. Wow....what a beautiful, beautiful haul, Amanda! SO MANY LOVELY BOOKS. I truly hope you enjoy them all. <3 :) This Christmas, I didn't receive as many books as usual, but that's probably good because I'm starting uni soon and won't have as much time to read...I received Nona & Me by Claire Atkins (I think that's the author...oops), the Maze Runner trilogy by James Dashner, Glory O'Brien's History of the Future by A. S. King, Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch and The Darkest Minds & Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken.

    1. Thanks Ebony, it was a crazy and wonderful Christmas and I felt very spoilt! There's some good books there that you've gotten yourself, TDM and NF have some serious love, and Maze Runner, it sounds exciting, so good luck yourself Ebony and enjoy your reads! :)

  2. OMG WHAT A HUGE HAUL! I probably don't manage to get these many books in a full year! :O
I mean, even at my birthday, I get maybe three books from all my friends combined, none from my folks (I buy myself books from them, but never more than two or three), and that's it! And we've no Christmas, so all the bookish gifts I might have gotten are otherwise lost to my wishful heart.
So envious of you right now! lol and they all look really great, too! Can I request a picture of all these lovely books together from your shelves? I'd love to see them *heart eyes*

    1. I was very spoilt! Very many of them, if not all, were discounted, second hand or used, therefore much cheaper than usual, which meant I could get more, so I'm very very lucky! You have no Christmas? Wow, I couldn't imagine that! I'm hoping to get a few pictures of them soon, but they look very haphazrd and messy right now, I need more space! I'll do it soon, promise!<3

    2. Nope. Israel being a Jewish country and all, we have no Christmas. A dream of mine is to be in America in Christmas time. I just looks like such a visually beautiful holiday.
      Looking forward to it! :D

    1. It is isn't it? This will keep me busy for a very very long time and I'm hardly buying any this year because of this, so that's fabulous! My Brother shares the same fate, his Birthday is 3rd of Jan. and he always feels forgotten.. I usually get forgotten, but thankfully, not this year. I hope to love to all, we shall see, but thank you Cait! :)

  5. HOLY...You weren't kidding when you said there were a lot of books. Your family are the best! You're a sweetheart Amanda, and you deserve to be spoiled with all the love! Have fun with them all. I can't even say anything because I'm overwhelmed by this lol I spotted Mara Dyer though! Which I LOVED! Funny thing, a friend of mine totally grabbed me Captive for my birthday, only I've never read Pawn. She told me she had no idea what she was doing and she just grabbed a random book off the shelf and prayed that I didn't have it hahaha

    1. No I wasn't, there had to be a warning, it was a A LOT of books. Your friend sounds so lovely though, it's the thought that counts, right? I usually give lists to people so they can pick and choose from the list, my best friend doesn't understand why I love books so much, but she'll buy me them anyway, just to be sure I like at least one present! I'm excited for Mara Dyer, really, I've heard amazing things, hopefully it's fantastic!

  6. AHHHHHH WHAT A GORGEOUS HAUL. You really lucked out this Christmas/birthday - I think you might have some do some shelf-rearranging just to make room for all those beautiful new books ;) Your family + friends know you so well - these should last you quite awhile before you make another foray into a bookstore! (Oh, who am I kidding. If it were me I wouldn't last a second after I'd opened the wrapping paper. You can never have enough books!)

    1. I did, I was very spoilt. I've actually avoided buying many books afterwards, I'm quite happy with what I have and plan to read from the library, my money is safe for now!

  7. Awesome haul! I really enjoyed The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, I've actually read it twice. I may have to reread the first two books before I finally read the last. Now You See Me is one of my favorite movies! I recently found out that they're actually making a sequel to it as well which is pretty awesome. I hope you enjoy all of your stuff! :)
