Amanda's Series Relationship - 2015 Update

Last year, I took inspiration from Nitzan and talked about my series relationship, what series I'd finished, started and planned on finishing, started and was unsure about continuing and series I wanted to started. If I could be so frank, it was a pretty nifty idea that revealed that I, am was a bit of a series un-finish-er. Fast forward over a year and I thought it would be fun (ha! who am I kidding?!) to take a look at the that relationship status now, see whether I have improved, take a look at where I stand with series, and cry over all the new series I intend to read. Essentially, I'm just digging myself into a worse hole I was already in. Fabulous, worthy post then, right? I thought so. So it begins..

Five Friday Favourites - Incomplete Series

Feature Details and Participation: Five Friday Favourites

I'm pretty much obsessed with series. Anybody that knows me knows this, and it's impossible not to see all about series on Beautiful Bookish Butterflies. I've talked about my relationship with series and marathoning series, my all time favourite series and saying goodbye to series, in fact, over 60% of my reads this year have been a part of series, and I love them so. There's no getting away from series when it comes to me, and I'm one of the few (it seems) readers who just can't stop lapping them up, so of course, I have a few firm favourites that aren't quote complete just yet, and I'm waiting extremely impatiently to finish them, and then attempt to let them go. Here's just five of those special series.

Top Ten Tuesday - Amanda's Favourite Series of All Time

Hosts - The Broke and the Bookish | Details - Top Ten Tuesday Feature

I love receiving recommendations and seeing what people have liked, it comes with the hobby of reading and reviewing books, it's something we all do already, with reviews and blog features and memes galore, they provide us with an outlet, that lets us say 'this book, you should read it', and we love that we have the ability to do that. But sometimes, people don't like reviews, they can be too detailed, too, inclusive of plot details, they can create an opinion in a reader, without them ever having to read a book, and a lot of the time, reviews are now avoided.

Marathoning Series: What To Consider

Late last year, I was told by Cait that 'when I start a series I REALLY start a series' and it got me thinking about how and why I read so many series, and why I find it so easy. It's definitely not to everyones taste, but I definitely find it fun and enjoyable, in fact, it's become something I have to do from time to time, even going as far as creating my own personal reading challenge in both this year and last, and encouraging Stacie to host a month dedicated to series here on BBB - what can I say, I'm a little bit obsessed.. But I've not always been a marathoner, I didn't even know what a read-a-long was until the beginning of last year, let alone what marathoning was, I thought it was just running, but ever since I've started, I've just not been the same since.

A Correlation: Libraries Make Me Read More Series

I know what you're thinking.. Amanda has officially lost her marbles, but fear not, for I have my mind completely in tact. No, what we're talking about today is very much a true story. A story of how one little girl rekindled her love for libraries and then became so obsessed with them, she ended up reading many series with the aid of them, not least 4 of her favourite series, ever, and just cannot get enough of them. Okay, maybe a few marbles arranged an escape early on the week, but I'm serious, between my using my local libraries and reading so many series, I've noticed a correlation between my actions -

Saying Goodbye To A Series

A few weeks ago I said goodbye to a series and really, it was the first goodbye that has hit my in a way I never really expected it too. Granted, I've finished other series before this one, I'd finished Trilogies and Duologies and yes, it was a little sad to see that chapter close and to think that there would never be another book with those characters, but the most recent series really created so many more emotions than those others could have ever have imagined and it's got me thinking about how hard it is to say goodbye - especially to long series when you've been with those characters through everything, when you've been in their mind and through their pain and when you've become attached to them that they almost feel like real friends. How do you learn to let go of these of these series and what exactly are the steps to go from mourning to remembering?

Bookish Musings - A Commitment to Series

Bookish Musings is a feature here at Beautiful Bookish Butterflies that allows one of us to share our thoughts and opinions, talk and discuss things happening in the book and blogging community or share a personal book related issue we have. Today, Amanda is extending her earlier conversation about her relationship with series and failing to continue them, as well as taking it a step further by making a commitment..

Bookish Musings - My Series Relationship

Everybody has a relationship with series; my Father for example, is a comic book nut, he'll buy every single edition in every single series relative to one particular character, and then do it for every character you could think of - my Mother on the other hand, she prefers her local authors, mainly standalones, focusing on the world during war and the romantic elements the leading ladies go through. They both have a relationship with series, whether it be positive or negative, but me?

When I was a little cherub, I loved to read; I was excited to bring home the next required book from school, and I remember finishing Homeward Bound/The Incredible Journey at the age of 8, and with the help of my Mother, I'd managed to read it in 3 months, a little bit every night. I had collections of books, actual series on my shelves, Animals in the Ark, Horrible Histories and The Walt Disney Company Books just to name a few, and I adored them; I read them over and over again until I could read no-more... I read no more.
