Nine months. Two weeks. Six days.

That's how long recovering addict Sophie's been drug-free. Four months ago her best friend, Mina, died in what everyone believes was a drug deal gone wrong - a deal they think Sophie set up. Only Sophie knows the truth. She and Mina shared a secret, but there was no drug deal. Mina was deliberately murdered.

Forced into rehab for an addiction she'd already beaten, Sophie's finally out and on the trail of the killer - but can she track them down before they come for her?

The first thing you need to know is Sophie is an drug addict. She has been ever since a car crash at 14 left her crippled and with metal rods in her legs, in constant pain she turned to pain medication, hiding what she was doing from everyone for 2 years until her parents found out. The second thing you should know about Sophie is she's been clean since being sent away to her aunts, that she was able to kick the habit and really start to focus on her life. Until her best friend Mina was killed.

Losing Mina was hard enough, having no one believe that it wasn't her fault or related to drugs didn't make it any easy. After being shipped off to rehab for 3 months by her parents, being forced to talk to a psychiatrist and convince them that she was well enough to go home, she's free. Still no one believes her. Not even Mina's brother Trev, who Sophie was just as close to. Mina was shot in the head, by a masked man and the police are doing nothing, looking in all the wrong place. The man who killed Mina also went to the trouble of planting dugs on Sophie when they knocked her out, leading her to believe the person knew her.

All Sophie can think about now is getting revenge for Mina, though search for justice means looking into the missing person case Mina was working on that had them out in the woods in the first. As the story goes on Sophie gets closer and closer to finding out who is behind it, putting her self in danger in the process. Nine months. Two weeks. Six days. she's been clean, and despite the urge to use again and numb herself to everything, she is determined to stay sober not only for herself but Mina.

This book seems to be the one everyone in the blogging community is talking about, and for a while that put me off reading it for as long as I could stand it, finally though it got the better of me and I decided I just couldn't wait to read it any long. Do I regret it? no, no I don't. Because all my worries about reading a well loved story, and being disappointed, where abolished within a few chapters.

It is such a good book, and I don't know how to describe it without giving too much away but the fact that is also a debut book leads to believe that Tess Sharpe is the one to watch in future, her writing is fantastic, her world building her character development all of it. Its very rare for me to become so attached to a anyone other than a main charter or love interest . I know its silly, but most books focus so much on 2 characters that others are forgotten . In this story you don't have that. I felt like I knew Sophie, Mina and Trev, the effect that went into given the sub characters life and back story blew me away. Mina.. even though you don't get to witness her in the present the author creates enough back story and flash backs for you to connect with her, and even though at the start the switch from past to present did annoy me in a way, soon it was nothing but necessary. The relationships in the story really pulls on your heartstrings, love, friendship and family a like. In short, this book was just brilliant and I'm so glad that I read it when I did :)

  1. I absolutely loved this book, it blew me away. I didn't know what to expect going in as I hadn't seen any reviews, but I wasn't expecting it to be so mind-blowingly amazing! This was such a beautiful book and it was so hard to review because I didn't want to give anything away. This is one that I would have happily given a million stars too if I could have. Brilliant review, glad you loved this one as much as I did :)

    1. I didn't know what to expect either, I just knew everyone was raving about it so I thought I would give it a go, in a way I'm pretty glad that I did't read any reviews as that way I got to discover it myself without other opinion clouding my judgement haha

I know what you mean, there was so much about the story that I wanted to talk about but I couldn't because it would give things away.

      Haha so am I :)
