Amanda's Series Relationship - 2015 Update

Last year, I took inspiration from Nitzan and talked about my series relationship, what series I'd finished, started and planned on finishing, started and was unsure about continuing and series I wanted to started. If I could be so frank, it was a pretty nifty idea that revealed that I, am was a bit of a series un-finish-er. Fast forward over a year and I thought it would be fun (ha! who am I kidding?!) to take a look at the that relationship status now, see whether I have improved, take a look at where I stand with series, and cry over all the new series I intend to read. Essentially, I'm just digging myself into a worse hole I was already in. Fabulous, worthy post then, right? I thought so. So it begins..

Series Finished And/Or Up-To-Date

Last year, for those who haven't taken a look at last years post (you probably should consider it, I'll be here when you get back), I had technically four series I was either finished with that had all their installments released, or series that were partially released and I'd read all books released. I'm proud to say, I've definitely done away with that measly number in the last year/few months..

Series Started that Need Consideration

Starting a series and finding yourself either a little disappointed or just not feeling anything particular about the first installment, that makes deciding whether to continue the series the most frustrating and horrible feeling in the world. What if it gets better? What if it gets worse? What if it stays, meh? Having to choose is always hard, and of course, I have a few that need some thought..

Series I'd Like To Start Soon-ish?

If it wasn't already completely clear to you, I love myself some series and I'm constantly buying, receiving or wanting to start new series, to the point where it's one of the many things I'm tracking in my spreadsheets this year, but I've collected a lot of series starters that I'd like to read, soon, or at least in the near future. 1. Wow. I'd say you're doing a pretty darn good job!! :) I wish I could say I'm this good at sticking with series. I tend to shy away from series because the pressure to finish all the books gets very stressful for me. You're rocking it, girl!! :)

    1. As would I Lisa, wow, thank you! I think if you focus on one series at a time, you feel better at it, it's worth a shot ;)

  2. I have this 'series I've started but haven't finished yet' problem too - especially with Enders and Allegiant. I *have* Enders and do want to read it...eventually - but I think I'll need to read Starters again first because it literally has been years. In terms of Allegiant, once it got spoiled for me and I heard some not-so-great things about it, I just lost my motivation to read it - but maybe one day I'll pick it up just for the sake of closure. I can vouch for Slated as a great series to start, it's really a fantastic dystopian with more of a contemporary/realistic edge. Best of luck Amanda, looks like you're doing well so far :)

    1. Slated is a series I keep /meaning/ to start, and just always forget or gets lost behind other books. I NEED to read it, very soon. I think sometimes closure does help, it might be worth it you know? Give it a shot ;)

  3. Congratulations! Series have been a really hard thing for me to read lately. I read half of a series and just stop for some reason (most of the time to read a new book that just came out). Then, I have to re-read all of them to get back in the mood for the series and to actually understand what is going on.
So, my list of uncompleted series is about as long as your completed series.
As for recommendations, you should skip out on the Goddess Test and Slated series. There are just so many better series out there, like the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy (one of my personal favorites) and the Splintered series.
Good luck tackling all of these books!

    1. I'm really still wary of DoSaB and Splintered, especially after the messy ending of Splintered, but hey, I might just consider them much sooner, so thanks lovely! Good luck with series yourself, must be hard, all the rereading!<3

  4. I love the way you have organized your post, the graphics look awesome :) You have finished soo many series already, I'm horrible with them these days! I actually really liked If I stay, Across The Universe, and Legend. Legend gets better as you read on, The sequel of If I Stay was just so boring and the concept kinda sucked with the goose chase.. I gave up on Graceling though by the second chapter LOL Pushing The Limits and To All The Boys I've Loved Before were really cute series, hope you enjoy them <3 Benish | Feminist Reflections

    1. Thanks Benish, that means a lot! I'm really looking forward to Pushing the Limits and To All The Boys, I'm very excited since they're well loved, hopefully I love them too. Across the Universe is a series I need to continue, asap!<3

  5. Interesting idea! Minus a few on the popular, well-known series, I tend to dwindle off around book 4 or 5. I really need to stop that

    1. Oh that's such a shame, think of all the great books you're missing out on. Pick a less popular and give it a go Bri, who knows, it might be the best decision you make!<3

  6. You've done so well with completing series, my series I have started but haven't completed list would be soooo long! I'm terrible with starting series and not finishing them because I always get distracted with the new and shiny. Lovely post Amanda, you're doing really well!

  7. This is really cool. I'm not really a goal maker but I love looking at others.

Personally, I'm really iffy on series because it's a commitment and I have commitment issues lol. However, i think you're making excellent progress with yours. And the amount of ones you want to read are awesome. Always love seeing enthusiasm with books :)
