My Thoughts

Well, I've got to say, there's some stand out covers here, and some pretty brutal covers that just do nothing for my feelings or prettiness or love towards them, but that's usually the case really isn't it? Covers #1 and #2, the UK covers are beyond a doubt my favourites - they look gorgeous and are aesthetically pleasing, they have beautiful colour hues and just look so lovely with their other matching covers. If there was ever a day to celebrate these covers instead of the old UK editions, today is that day, wow. Cover #3, the Czech edition is a little less wowing, but it impressed me so much the moment I looked at it, I had to include it. It's colours, it's boldness, it's intensity, it's entire look; it may not look amazing, but it certainly dazzles, and I like being dazzled. Cover #4 is one of many following a similar design, including the old UK covers and more, but the Sweedish edition was my favourite, with the bold black text and the image within, to the bold yellows on the covers, they certainly are a colour match in heaven, and I love me some yellow and black.

The following four covers look a little, well, unexciting and tame in comparison. Cover #5, the German Cover probably could have switched with the Hungarian cover, number #6, they both unimpress and underwhelm me, and the pretty flower crown is nice, but both leave nothing lasting on the brain with the look and style, and that's a shame really.. Cover #7, the US cover, is hideous. What is going on with her face? What is she doing? Is she staring into space? Into me? What is going on? No no no. That and the flowers, urgh. Cover #8, the final cover is just, it's so close to being a Cover X, a cover that should never exist, and that's a baaaaaad thing for the book, very very bad. This is a terrible photoshop and would have been underwhelming for readers, especially if this cover was used in a different country. They'd have been better using the US cover at the very least..

Your Thoughts

What did you think of these covers? What did you think of the book? Was it a good ending?

  1. Personally, I like #1 and #2 best as well. They're simple and not too crowded to look at. I actually seriously hate the Czech cover. It's way too cluttered and it looks kind of unprofessional, but I love the cover model's fierce expression. #4 is actually pretty nice too, but the texture for the title is really lame and doesn't make a lot of sense. #5's okay, it doesn't stand out in the very large sea of gorgeous YA covers. #6 COULD be okay, but the green font sucks a lot. #7... No, just no. It looks like the girl doesn't have a neck and it's getting on my nerves. #8 could pass as a lame movie poster if it wanted to.

Thanks for sharing, Amanda! I love cover comparison posts. ;)

    1. Thanks Aimee, I really like sharing the covers! The first two covers are definitely my favourites, they subtle, sweet colours and just look pleasant, what you want in a cover :)

  2. Gah! Cover design is so hard! But look at all the covers you get to choose from if you have many editions. Sigh. It's really hard to decide which I like best :)

    1. Cover design I imagine is very difficult, I don't know if I could do it myself, but the choice of covers, it's always lovely to have such a vast amount :)

  3. Totally agree with you on #7 and #8. I didn't like the final cover AT ALL! It's taking "girl on the cover" to a new level.

I do LOVE one and two, though <3

  4. To be honest I'm not actually a fan of ANY of them! UGH TO AMERICA THAT IS ALL. They really feel flat on that one. I think I like #3 the best, but I'm not a fan of faces on covers. >_<

  5. 1&2 are my faves as well, though I do think the girl in them looks too young?

    1. Yeah, she looks more on the younger side of teens rather than 16-17, although they are pretty :)

  6. I love number #2 which I own, and the colours/textures are so pretty. I really loved this series and it's interesting to see how the covers differ between countries. Thanks for sharing :)
