Top Ten Tuesday - Books on Our Spring TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted at the Broke and the Bookish, and involves lists - perfect for people who enjoy making, planning and reading bookish lists. Every week there's a new prompt, and once in a while, Stacie and Amanda participate and give their own input on the subject at question. Todays topic is 'books on our spring tbr' and while the girls don't usually created tbr's, and even more rarely stick to them, they have some special reads that they're making time for this season, but what are they, and will they read them?

Stacie

  1. The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness: For those of you who are unaware, Amanda and I are hosting a Month of Series challenge this in April. (if you haven’t signed up, there is still time). In the challenge I plan on finally getting to The Chaos Walking series, I've been saying I would for a long time and as I own all the books there really is not excuse to put it off any more.
  2. The Remedy by Suzanne Young: The Remedy (and the next 2 books) is just one of the many, many eARC's I have that need to read. Its the prequel to The Program series by Suzanne Young, I've read book #1 and plan on doing a reread of it, plus book #2 which I haven't got around to yet before I tackle The Remedy, I really enjoyed the first book so I'm really looking forward to it. (yet again this will most likely be for our Month of Series Challenge)
  3. Perfectly Ella by Candy Harper: Though I haven't read anything by Candy Harper yet, Amanda is big fan and her books sound so fun, so when I saw her new series on Netgalley I knew I wanted it. I would like to read her others before or after this one but because they aren't apart of a series I can be a bit more relaxed and not put them in a 'need to read pile'.
  4. The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey: Though I am the first person to admit that I hate it when a book is compared to others, I am really looking forward to even though it is said to be for the fans of City of Bones and Shadow and Bone. It just seems like a really interesting new series and I'm just hoping it's not a carbon copy of others. I have high hopes, very high hopes.
  5. Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen: The only book I can say I am dying to read above all. It is without a doubt my number one most anticipated book of the year. It's said that this book will be a bit different to her other work, a bit dark where as she's known for being some what fluffy. I'm not worried though, I've read nearly all her books and her writing is so effortless that I'm really intrigued to see how she copes with a different style of story telling.

Amanda

  1. Divergent by Veronica Roth: This is one of the series I'm hoping to read during Month of Series next month, and it's also one of the series featured in my Commitment to Series, so I've got many reasons to be reading this book and this series during the spring months. I'm both pretty intrigued as to what this series is going to be like as I'm going in pretty blind, but I'm also wary, because you guys seriously love it. Deep breathes Amanda..
  2. Cleo by Lucy Coats: It's common knowledge, especially recently, that I'm trying to make a point of reading much more #UKYA reads this year in comparison to last year, and this is one of those. I always loved Egypt as a child, and always thought the mythology and history surrounding it was beautiful, and the premise sounds really really good.
  3. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas: I've had a copy of ACOTAR for a few weeks now and just haven't gotten around to reading it - for the life of me, I don't know why. Sarah J. Maas is an author I really enjoy reading work from and I've heard nothing but positive things about her soon to be latest released work, so there's nothing really stopping me. I just need to bite the bullet, but my worries aside, and start it.
  4. Everbound by Brodi Ashton: I read Everneath last year and found it to be.. well, it was enjoyable, and definitely crept up on me emotionally, and what was to come for these characters was what made me buy the sequel. It's also on my list of Mythology reads for this year, so I'm definitely reading it very very soon.
  5. Bomb by Sarah Mussi: I read Riot by Sarah Mussi last year and was the black sheep of most readers - I really quite enjoyed it and thought the premise was brilliant, Bomb is no different. Mussi doesn't seem afraid to tackle taboo and shocking subjects head on, and this book sounds just as up my alley as Riot was, so I'm predictably excited and cannot wait to read it.

What are some of the books you're going to be reading this spring? Are there any on your list that are similar to ours? Have you read any that we haven't yet, what should we read right away?

  1. Your blog is beautiful! Ahh A Court of Thorns and Roses! Definitely, definitely read this one asap! It's amazing and so so good! I loved it (as I'm sure you can tell!). Just added Cleo to my TBR list as I absolutely love historical fiction especially ancient Rome & Egypt so this is definitely something I'd enjoy! The Girl at Midnight also made my list and I liked Divergent but really enjoyed the rest of the series. Great list! Hope you get through all these and enjoy them all :)

  4. I adore the Chaos Walking series. It's different and OH SO GOOD. DIVERGENT is awesome, too. I have SAINT ANYTHING on my list today as well. It looks different than Dessen's other books, so I'm anxious to give it a go.

Happy TTT (and St. Paddy's Day)!

  7. This list makes me want spring to come as soon as possible!
A Court of Thorns and Roses seems to be on everyone's list, including mine! I also need to read The Remedy because The Program has been sitting on my bookshelf since last year (I just found the copy after doing some spring cleaning).

  10. Ooh, Everbound is great! I think I might have liked it even more than the first book. The third book in the trilogy disappointed me a bit, but I hope you enjoy it more than I did.

  12. Stacie: OMG I REALLY WANT TO READ THE GIRL AT MIDNIGHT NOW. I didn't realise that's what it was pitched as! ohhh gosh. That's so cool. I also want to read The Remedy. xD I have The Treatment on my TBR right now!

Amanda: OH WOW YOU HAVEN'T TOUCHED DIVERGENT YET?!! *flails* Okay, it's totally epic and I hope you love it. XD It's one of my favouritest series and dooooon't read any spoilers for Allegiant. ;-) I was nervous as anything about ACOTAR too, and to be honest, it didn't quite live up to Throne of Glass for me. *sigh* It still was a gorgeous read though.

    HAPPY READING YOU TWO.

    1. No, I'm a Divergent virgin (or is that too rude?? oops..) I'm hoping to really like it, and then watch the films like I've been doing with THG, hopefully it's great! TOG wasn't too amazing for me anyway, so hopefully my expectations are a little lower right now. Thanks Cait!<3

  13. I am definitely looking forward to ACOTAR and The Girl at Midnight! They both sound so amazing. And Stacie- you MUST read The Knife of Never Letting Go! I will say this- it does take awhile to get started- it's a little confusing- but it gets SO GOOD. And then each book gets more amazing as you go along. And Amanda- Divergent is one of my favorite books! I also really liked Insurgent. I shall not speak of Allegiant ;) Hope you both enjoy all of these!
