Who Wore It Better #16 - Linger

Who Wore It Better is a meme created and hosted by Nitzan at The Book Babes Read and co-hosted here on Beautiful Bookish Butterflies by Amanda and Stacie. We don't talk about clothing or fashion and we definitely don't talk frills and spills, we talk books and their covers and who we think has the best. This week, Amanda's talking about the covers for The Titans Curse, book three in Percy Jackson and The Olympians. It's not her favourite installment, but is the one she's most recently read.

My Thoughts

Come on now, is it a surprise that the German cover is first? IT'S BEAUTIFUL. I will not get over the beauty that is the German covers for this series, honestly, if I could read German, I would have these books like a shot, sod being poor. Please publishers, why you no make pretty covers like this for the English.. Cover #2 is of a similar design to Cover #3 and to be honest, it's the one most people are aware of. The vines work well with the forest theme and in Cover #2, the use of monochrome seems to work for me, where-as Cover #3 has the girl and the wolf which would work for other people, I just prefer monochrome looks more. Cover #4 should be last really, but that snowy look won me over - I LOVE SNOW, seriously, it's wonderful. Take away the eyes and we'd have a winner of a cover, but meh. Cover #5 is once again similar to Covers #2 and #3, but it's just too, dark, really. It looks more sinister and really, I've heard this series is heavier on romance than anything else, so I really don't think this fits, although, some people will like these new covers, I just, don't. Cover #6, the final cover, is nice, it's not a bad look, it's simple, it's got a dulled down colour and hits at animal like features with the claw makes, it's just, boring to look at and could be about absolutely anything, and it's got a different name, what's that about? Without a doubt, the German edition is my favourite, and you know what, I love their covers so much, you can see the full set;

OH MY GOD THE BEAUTY! *fangirls*

Your Thoughts

  1. I can't help it. I'm so drawn to cover two. I have this thing about black and red covers where I just can't resist them. Ever. And half the time I'm just tricked into reading dud books. WHY WORLD?! That's being dramatic. But seriously. The red and black one is amazing. I do like the German cover though but, you know...language....is. a. barrier LOL

  2. Honestly, my favourites ones are the US Original/UK Hardcovers. I agree with you--they're the ones that people know the best, and they just seem to suit the novels well. Though yeah, the German cover IS very appealing to look at! :)

    1. I can understand that definitely! They fit with the forest and the whole atmosphere, but I adore the German covers!

  3. Ooooh, loving the colours in the German edition! It's a bit too piece-meal for my taste, but I do like it :) I think my favourite is probably the US original!

    1. A lot of people prefer the originals and I like them too really, they're the nicer ones aren't they? :)

  4. Those German editions are definitely my favorites, I love how they look together! I like those little silhouettes on it. The Italian cover is boring. I think the only other cover edition I like is 3, because it also has those silhouettes and isn't as depressing as 2.

  7. The german cover for this book is so pretty. For some reason the germans have such a different style for covers. My boyfriend and I once found a book series in a german book store and when we went to look up the english evrsion online we were both disapointed by the cover, as the german covers where much better.
    Although I also like the UK and US covers. I don't like the bulgarian at all, with those creepy eyes hanging in the air. The new US and the italian cover aren't really impressive either.

  8. While I think the Germany one is really pretty, I can't help but love the UK paperback haha. I also really like the US one but I think the others are a bit strange haha. Thanks for reminding me to finish the series though :P

  9. I really like 1, 2 & 3 but I think 2 might be my favourite. I actually really like the new UK paperbacks, even though they are really plain. I see them in my local bookshop and I want them, even though I already own a set.
